Two of the Best Golf Courses in South Africa

Golf in Africa rises above the perfect greens of Sun City and goes further with several golf courses. Golfers with their families find it convenient to have a combined trip or a vacation and book a game of golf online. South Africa is a golfer's paradise and plays host to some of the world's finest golf courses.

Even if you are new to golf, you can learn the game at the golf courses, where there are professionals who can help you play and improve your gaming skills. The breathtaking courses, excellent attractions, and palm-lined beaches with exotic bird songs make it impossible not to tee off on the unique continent.

Here are a couple of golf courses that you plan to play while in South Africa:
South Africa is home to many excellent golf courses, and some of the best golfers worldwide commute to play there. It's an incredible place to play on world-class courses under sunny skies surrounded by stunning views (and occasionally wildlife).

In 1935, ten of the city's elite planned and decided to purchase a farm and form a company "Glendower", to construct a country club. They hired an English golf designer, Mr Charles Hugh Alison, to plan the course and designated the construction task to a South African professional golfer, A.F. Tomsett.

The Glendower Golf Club finally opened on the 7th of March, 1937. The layout was so impressive that within two years of opening, the golf course hosted its first major tournament, The Transvaal Open Championship.

In 1973, the club was declared a Nature Reserve. During the 80s, the course saw a substantial upheaval by renovating all 18 greens, adding new tee posts, cleansing existing water hazards, and adding new water features at several holes.

The refurbishment made the Glendower Club one of the most selective and stunning courses in South Africa, and today, it is among the top courses in Gauteng. The golf course is in the suburbs of Johannesburg and about 10 minutes away from the International Airport.
If you are a regular golfer, consider taking a club membership, which will allow you to play at clubs that have affiliations in different cities or countries. For instance, take the Victoria Country Club, located around fifteen minutes from the Pietermaritzburg CBD. By becoming a member of the Victoria Country Club, you can avail facilities at most global country clubs. Situated in scenic parklands adjoining the Queen Elizabeth Nature Reserve, the club boasts one of the most picturesque golf courses in South Africa. An abundance of wildlife – including crowned eagles, African goshawks, black sparrowhawks, nesting thick-billed weavers, and duikers and bushbuck adds to the magnificent views. The amenities at all the golf clubs include conference halls, function and dining facilities, exclusive accommodation, a patron golf course, squash, tennis courts, and swimming.

Conclusion:
Country club membership provides you with several facilities, excellent service, and a world-class golf course within the club's safe and tranquil surroundings, whether gathering with friends and family or networking business opportunities.
